In this chilling episode, we uncover the disturbing story of Heather Stephenson-Snell, a licensed psychotherapist turned ruthless stalker, who spiraled into an obsessive, 18-month campaign of harassment and terror. Dubbed the “Halloween Killer,” her fixation on her ex-lover and his new partner evolved from subtle psychological manipulation into overt, violent threats that left her victims in constant fear. As Halloween night drifted into the early hours of November 1, 2003, a red car pulled onto Holland Street in Radcliff. The driver stepped out, cloaked in an eerie white sheet and a Scream mask, blending her real-life horror with the chilling fiction of Halloween night. With each silent step toward her target’s home, Heather’s jealousy and rage came to a tragic climax, leading to the shocking murder of Robert Wilkie. This episode unravels the mind of a killer fueled by obsession, jealousy, and manipulation, exploring how her carefully controlled life as a therapist masked a dark, violent side. Norwegian Black Metal (Part 2): Chaos, Arson and Murder
Friday Oct 18, 2024
Friday Oct 18, 2024
In part two of this wild two-parter episode, we are right back into the shadowy world of Norwegian black metal. In part one, we delved into the notorious and influential history of Mayhem, the band that laid the foundation for Norway’s black metal scene. We talked about how after Dead’s suicide, Mayhem’s popularity soared. Arguably, this tragedy was the first domino to fall in the chain reactions in Norway that included violence, arson, murder, and a further tumble into black metal chaos. In part two, we will focus on the notorious beef between Euronymous (the ‘Godfather’ of Black Metal) and Varg Vikernes aka ‘Count Grishnackh’. This led to a shocking wave of church burnings that swept across Norway in the early 1990s, igniting a firestorm of controversy and fear. Tied to the burgeoning black metal scene, these acts were fueled by a mix of anti-Christian sentiment and a desire to reclaim pagan heritage. As musicians and fans alike embraced a darker aesthetic, the line between artistic expression and criminal behavior blurred. Two shocking and tragic murders catapulted the black metal scene into the public eye. This dark chapter raised questions about identity, rebellion, and the consequences of extreme ideology, forever marking the legacy of Norwegian black metal.

Wednesday Oct 16, 2024
In part one of this wild two-parter episode, we dive into the shadowy world of Norwegian black metal- a music scene that transcended mere sound to become a notorious subculture known for its aggressive music with dark, philosophical, and anti-religious ideologies. This chaotic story begins with the notorious and influential history of Mayhem, the band that laid the foundation for Norway’s black metal scene. The band members comprised of aliases like ‘Euronymous’, ‘Hellhammer’, and ‘Necrobutcher’, ‘Count Grishnackh’, along with others, together became a symbol of extreme ideology, shocking events, and underground rebellion. Most notably, is the tragic and disturbing death of Mayhem’s lead singer Per "Dead" Ohlin, the enigmatic frontman of Mayhem whose life and untimely death left an indelible mark on the Norwegian black metal scene. As Mayhem’s notoriety grew, so did the lines between art and real-life violence, including arson, murder, and chaos. Don your corpse paint and join us as we uncover the myth, the music, and the madness behind Norwegian black metal.

“A Mercy Killing”: The Electrocution of Baby Lawrence
Wednesday Oct 09, 2024
Wednesday Oct 09, 2024
In the mid-1940s, a small New England town was devastated by the mysterious death of an infant named Lawrence Noxon. Initially thought to be a horrible accident, suspicions quickly rose surrounding the six-month old’s death sparking an investigation into Lawrence’s father John Noxon, Jr. As local tensions rose, dark dynamics of the town came to light, and a sensationalized murder trial gripped the community. Some say baby Lawrence’s death was a terrible accident and tragedy. Others, well, they think that if John did kill his son, it was an act of mercy. An act driven by his compassion to free his son of a ‘terrible and terminal’ life of Down Syndrome. This case stirs up intense ethical, legal, and emotional views. What played into this supposed ‘mercy killing’? Have we progressed since mid-century mentality and medical expertise? Buckle up and hang out with us as we explore this very tragic and very uncomfortable case. *Make sure to tune in on Friday to our interview with author (and retired court reporter) James “Jim” Overmyer to hear him take us even deeper into the chasms of 1940’s high-society and backwards thinking wrapped up within this case.

Black Klansman: The Case of Ron Stallworth
Wednesday Oct 02, 2024
Wednesday Oct 02, 2024
In the late 1970s, one of the most improbable and audacious undercover investigations in American history took place. Ron Stallworth's story, Black Klansman, is a gripping and almost surreal tale of infiltration and deception. Ron Stallworth, the first black detective in Colorado Springs, Colorado, undertook a dangerous and audacious mission—to pose as a white supremacist to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. Through phone calls and written correspondence, he gained the trust of local Klan members and even the Grand Wizard, David Duke. His story, later recounted in his 2014 memoir Black Klansman: A Memoir, inspired both the 2018 Spike Lee film BlacKkKlansman and renewed interest in the fight against racial extremism in America. Sit down. Buckle up. And hang with us through this wild case of Ron Stallworth, the first Black Klansman.

End of Watch: Officer Marianne Johnson
Wednesday Sep 25, 2024
Wednesday Sep 25, 2024
In the eerie pre-dawn hours of July 16, 2016, the French Robertson Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice was on lockdown. Most inmates were confined, but Dillion Gage Compton, a convicted criminal, was one of twenty inmates working in the kitchen under the supervision of correctional officers, including Officer Mariann Johnson. Hours later, a routine count revealed a chilling reality: Officer Marianne Johnson was missing. Suspicion quickly turned to Dillion Gage Compton, whose earlier suspicious behavior and fresh scratches on his face and neck raised alarms. Forensic evidence would soon give some answers to the heartbreaking reality of Officer Johnson’s murder. Marianne Johnson is remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and dedicated officer who served with a sense of duty despite the risks. Correctional Officer deaths, thankfully, are infrequent. But some do give all in the line of duty. Marianne Johnson did. It is with deep sorrow and respect that we honor the life and service of Correctional Officer Marianne Johnson, who passed away in the line of duty on 7/16/2016. Officer Johnson served with dedication and courage, protecting her community and upholding justice within the correctional system. Her End of Watch came on 7/16/2016, marking the end of her brave service but not the impact she made on those she worked with, protected, and inspired. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment, compassion, and sacrifice.
Rest in peace, Officer Johnson. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
